Skills Development Scotland has announced that it is extending funding through the Low Carbon Skills Fund until 30 June 2012

The Fund has been established to support the sustainability and growth of businesses in the renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon reduction sectors by part-funding training which meets business priorities.

Funding can cover 50% of the total eligible training costs for up to 25 employees up to a maximum of £500. For example, if an episode of training costs £1,200 excluding VAT, the funding provider will refund £500. If it costs £300 excluding VAT, the funding provider will refund £150.

Eligible training activity can include the following:

  • Qualifications, including individual units.
  • Master Classes.
  • Learning based on National Occupancy Standards.
  • Industry recognised qualifications.
  • First line supervisory management.
  • Workshops.
  • Taster sessions.

Eligible businesses are those involved in increasing the energy efficiency of products or installation of lower carbon products or renewable energy resources.

The final deadline for the receipt of applications is 31 March 2012.
