Solar Thermal (Solar Water Heating) - Solar water heating systems use free heat from the sun to generate hot water. A conventional boiler or immersion heater is then used to make the water hotter or as a backup through winter periods. Solar Heating panels can be placed on E/W/S roofs, however the south facing roof is the most optimum.
Solar Electricity (PV) - Solar panels can be installed on E/S/W facing roof and convert sunlight into electricity that can either be used in your property or sold back to the grid. The ideal roof orientation is South for the best results.
Heat Pumps - Ground source heat pumps use pipes buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This is usually used to warm water for radiators or under floor heating systems and can be used in conjunction with solar water heating panels.
Air Source Heat Pumps - Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used to warm water for radiators or under floor heating systems, or can be used to warm the air in your home.
